Dover is the state capital of Delaware with a population of 34,000 residents. Dover has a new Amish community in the area, and is surrounded by Amish farms. It is also the host of the NASCAR Winston Cup twice a year. Dover is a small capital city, but is fast-growing, due to its great quality of life and low cost of living.
Dover is the home to Delaware State University as well as Dover Air Force Base, one of the largest employers in the area. Small local art galleries including the Sewell C. Biggs Museum of American Art display porcelain and American-made silver and furniture. The area features locally-owned bed and breakfasts and laid-back taverns and cafes.
Dover is located directly in the center of the state, and is approximately 90 miles south of Philadelphia and 90 miles east of Washington, D.C.
